The Sparta Area School District and Board of Education appreciate our community's active engagement in recent discussions about our operational and facility needs. Your invaluable input highlighted the true necessity for action. After careful consideration, the Board decided to place only an operational referendum on the April 2, 2024, ballot. This focused approach aims to better communicate our operational deficit and needs, including staff retention and maintaining current programs and class sizes.
The question on the back of the ballot (as it will appear on the ballot):
Shall the Sparta Area School District, Monroe and Jackson Counties, Wisconsin be authorized to exceed the revenue limit specified in Section 121.91, Wisconsin Statutes, by $750,000 per year for two years, beginning with the 2024-2025 school year and ending with the 2025-2026 school year, for non-recurring purposes consisting of operational expenses, including maintenance, safety, security, technology, staff compensation and benefits?
