Construction Progress Report for last week:
Due to the excess rain that fell Monday, most trades on the jobsite had to pull off due to the weather.
With the light rain/wetness Tuesday, Market & Johnson (M&J) Masonry focused their efforts on the Non-Load Bearing CMU block walls of the first floor in unit A & C. Through the rest of the week the masons were back on the second floor of units A & C. They will be done on the second floor of unit A at the end of this week, and will focus all their efforts on unit C.
M&J Laborers & Concrete Finishers were able to finish the concrete toppings on the second floor of unit B and unit E in the Mezzanine area (area that holds the large unit equipment). They were also able to pour the thickened concrete pads that will hold the large unit equipment. Towards the end of the week, they also started forming the large footing for the retaining wall.
Zimmerman Plumbing worked on core drilling holes through the second floor concrete to allow for their pipes to be passed through at a later time. They also worked on setting the roof drains on the Unit D Gymnasium Joist & Decking (first part of the roof that is applied to support the other roofing elements above it.)
B&B Electric continued to work on the interior of Unit A with their electrical rough-ins as well as with the Masons with their electrical CMU rough-ins. They also installed more temporary lighting throughout the first floor of the building interior. Towards the end of the week they focused on laying their underground wiring sleeves for getting the gym ready for the concrete slab to be poured early next week.
Cary Specialized Services continued to be on site throughout the week setting the Joist & Deck roofing (structural element of the roof as mentioned above) in the Multipurpose room of unit E. They also have an iron worker working on the interior first floor welding steel plates that are the final component of fastening the precast to the CMU walls.
Winona Controls & Ledegar Sheet Metal continued to work on the first floor interior portions of the building. Ledegar worked on ductwork rough-ins above ceiling height. Winona worked on their gas piping rough-ins and towards the end of the week they were able to unload most of their large unit equipment. They were also able to set one of these units in the first floor of unit A.
Fowler & Hammer also came back to the site this week. They are installing roof blocking on the gymnasium, installing temporary enclosures for the open windows and doors, and are also installing wood backing (what is used to fasten the later applied windows) to the exterior window openings.
Gerke Excavating was on site for two days towards the end of the week to work on getting the gymnasium ready to receive the concrete slab on grade next week.
