While many school districts are without a DECA chapter, Sparta’s chapter is fortunate to have 9 members that are excelling. DECA is open to students in grades 9 through 12 and this year boasts 35 members. DECA students improve their soft skills, problem solving skills, organization, and plan implementation. In addition, members complete community service and/or compete at competitions. Senior Madysun Breeze shares “At DECA state, I embraced a brand new environment, and it taught me how to constructively build my socialization skills. It was a fun experience that I would encourage every individual to try out.”

The DECA team would like to thank the following:

  • Former Sparta Marketing student, Brenon Burkhardt who helped run the State competition
  • Chip Manske for volunteering to judge state event
  • Wil Calkins from Necal for helping students with presentations
  • Breana Bowser from Multistack for helping students with presentations

To keep costs affordable for students, the DECA chapter will be seeking sponsorships to compete at the event. Fees for the National event consist of registration fee, hotel, and flight per student. Anyone interested in sponsoring the chapter should contact Jamie Adams at jadams@spartan.org.
